COVID-19 RESPONSE

Hospitals Race the Clock to Prepare Negative Pressure Rooms for COVID-19 Victims

Given the increasing number of patients contracting COVID-19, the medical system is, and will continue to be, in dire need of COVID-19 treatment rooms in their existing facilities. Most hospitals, small and large, have some form of negative pressure space. But a pandemic with a fast-spreading mystery virus has meant many facilities are having to come up—quickly—with more places to keep the COVID patients safely isolated.

ASHRAE, “a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment”, has developed proactive guidance to help address (COVID-19) concerns with respect to the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems.

We at Moses stand ready to respond to this need using ASHRAE’s guidance as well as our own extensive experience with rapid response engineering projects. For an example on a recent COVID-19 project where we modified regular patient rooms to become Temporary Airborne Infection Isolation (TAII) rooms, see our Projects section titled “COVID-19 Response”.
